    Behind the Scenes

Ever wondered what it's like to be a Brisbane Newborn Photographer? Cuddling gorgeous babies all day and visiting gorgeous locations with really fun clients. It really is the greatest job, I have been running my photography business for 8 years now and I still love it so much! Nothing makes me happier than showing my clients the edited images from their session and hearing how much they adore them and how happy they are. It's such a beautiful feeling when you create a piece of art that someone values so much.

Here I am photographing baby Taj, what a cutie!

When I'm setting up the studio for a newborn session I like to create a mood board first with the colours, textures and props so I can create a cohesive look for the gallery. I like my images to flow throughout a gallery so that If my clients were to print all of their photos and display them in a large masterpiece all of the colours compliment each other.

What If we want to use certain colours or props in our session?

I always get my clients feedback on the colours and props I plan to use, and I welcome their suggestions as I want them to love their photos and be proud to display them in their home. I have a large range of props in the studio my clients are welcome to look through and find things they love that we can incorporate into the shoot.

I share most of my behind the scenes videos and photos in my Instagram stories, be sure to follow me if you wish to see more.

    Perfect age for newborn photos

How old should my baby be for newborn photos? It's a question I get asked a lot and the answer all depends on the type of images you want to receive. I photograph babies of all ages and adapt to suit the baby and their needs during the session.

If you want your baby to be asleep then bringing them into your photographer's studio before they reach 3 weeks of age will give you the highest chance of capturing those very sleepy posed images. However, this doesn't mean that every baby will sleep through their session. Getting a baby to sleep and staying asleep can have a number of contributing factors.

    Newborn baby yawning

I send my clients a welcome pack when they book in which includes tips on how prepare themselves and baby before they arrive so we have the best chance of baby being tired and ready for a sleep. I also have special techniques I have developed over the past 8 years of settling and wrapping babies so they are consistently warm and comfortable throughout their session. A babies safety is always my top priority so I always pose the baby in natural, comfortable positions keeping an eye on their temperature. A baby should never get too hot or cold or be put in compromising positions which could restrict their airflow. It's important when booking your newborn session to choose an experienced photographer.

If you want your baby to be awake and looking at the camera I recommend 3 months and older. Sometimes I am able to capture beautiful awake photos of a newborn baby but it's very dependant on the situation at the time and how settled the baby is.

So the answer for how old should your baby be for newborn photos is your baby can be any age as long as you have spoken with your photographer and know what to expect from your session.

If you are interested in a Newborn Photography Session and would like to know me send me a message and we can chat about your next photoshoot.

    Brisbane Newborn Photographer - Brynn

One of the things I love about my job is the amazing people I get to meet, like beautiful baby Brynn and his lovely parents! I'm always so honoured that my clients place their trust in me to capture such a special time in their lives. My goal for every newborn photography session is to create a safe and calming space where my clients feel comfortable and relaxed.

My favourite part of a newborn photography session is photographing parents holding their new baby, kissing them softly and admiring the amazing journey they have just been on. It's a very emotional experience becoming parents and being able to create images that show the love and happiness of parenthood is very special to me. The way Mitch and Christina looked at each other and their baby was just so powerful and the above image is my favourite image from their newborn session.

Brynn was a dream to photograph, he had the most amazing hair with blonde highlights! With velvet-soft baby skin covered in a fine layer of baby fluff reminding us just how short his time out of the womb has been. What a privilege it is to be a newborn photographer and meet beautiful babies like Brynn and capture their first-ever professional portraits.

Thank you so much Mitch and Christina for trusting me to create these beautiful memories for you xx
